Steele, who hosted a popular talk series on WHIO-TV in the early 1970s, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tobias Conner Funeral Home i in Bellbrook. Mr. Steele died Sunday at Hospice of Dayton. He was 48.

Mr. Steele, who played piano and organ and sang, joined the staff at Channel 7 as a news reporter weekend anchor. His talk-variety show -The Dave Steele Experience began as an every-nowand-then program on WHIO in 1973. Mr. Steele also did some musical moonlighting at several downtown Dayton nightspots, including the Dayton Racquet Club.

Montgomery County In June 1974, WHIO made The Dave Steele Experience a weekly, hourlong program. The show, which had 9-year-old Jodi Light of Lima as a regular and featured such guests as singer John Davidson, sportscaster Pat Summerall and comedian Rich Little, received an award from the National Association of Television Program Executives. Dave Steele resigned from WHIO in December 1974. He later had a brief stint as promotional sales representative at the old Dayton Inn hotel in downtown Dayton. In recent years, he operated a video production business from his home in Bellbrook.

"Dave was a talented, likable guy who had great potential as an said Dick Bieser, who was Channel 7's news director when Mr. Steele left the station. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, Donna sons Darrin and Damon; daughter Dana; mother Virginia Gray and her husband, Larry. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by a son, James. She is also survived by a daughter-inlaw June Re HawkinsDice. Mrs.

Hawkins was a member of the ington Heights Baptist Church, where she wasa member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship and the Young At Heart Fellowship groups. For over 20 years, Mrs. Hawkins worked with the Child Evangelism Fellowship, holding Bible clubs with the children which she dearly loved. She served the Lord faithfully ministering to the needs of others. A Memorial service will be held 3 PM Friday, August 2, 1996 at the Washington Heights Baptist Church, 5650 Far Hills Ave.
