The Imps and the Incredibles - Chapter 10: New Assignment (2024)
Helen was in her and Bob's room. She was hanging some of his clothes which he had washed and dried up in their closet. She then looks at his work suit. She squints. There was a strand of blond hair on it. She takes it, and examines it. That's when she remembered. Bob had told her about Mirage. This must belong to her from when Bob went on his assignment to take down the Omnidroid 8. Then, she hears the phone ring. She heads to it, before hearing Bob call out "it's alright hon, i'll answer it!" from Bob's area, he picks up the phone and asks "hello?" then, a familiar voice responds. It was Mirage "we have a new assignment for you" Helen is curious, before she takes her phone. Then she hears Mirage's voice "how soon can you get here?" then she heard Bob's reply "i'll leave tomorrow morning" Mirage's voice then responds "see you then" Helen was able to recognize the voice, it must've been Mirage. She must be calling Bob for a new assignment.
The next morning, Bob takes his suitcase, and heads into his limo. Helen then walks up to the window, and says "Bob?" Bob acknowledges her, as she then says
"you're, not taking your old suit?" Bob replies "it's alright. E made me a new one" Helen's eyes widen in curiosity, before saying "that's really generous" Bob then replies "yeah. She even made Moxxie and Millie their own suits too. Y-you can call her if ya want. She'll tell you herself" with that, he turns the key, starting the engine, before Helen replies "good luck on your mission. Hope this, new Omnidroid doesn't give you much trouble" Bob then replies, recognizing the tone in her voice "don't worry hone. If we're lucky, it'll be as easy as the last one" with that, the garage door opens, and Bob pulls out of the drive way, and heads off. Helen watches, and waves, before thinking about what he said regarding Edna's involvement in this. She decided that maybe it wouldn't hurt to call her
Cut to a few hours later. Bob was in the co*ckpit of the Manta jet, now wearing his new supersuit: a tight one-piece red suit with an orange "belt", black boots, gloves, and mask, a black crutch, and an insignia of a yellow lowercase "i" in a black circle with a yellow edge. He was currently taking a shrimp from a sauce bowl, dips it in said sauce and eats it, before he hears a voice say "this is your automated captain. Would you care for more mimosa?" Bob recipes "don't mind if i do." a tube-like machine rises next to him, and he puts an empty glass on it. It then sinks in quickly, and rises back up, having been refilled. Bob thanks the automated voice, "thanks" and the automated captain replies "your welcome" the manta jet turns to the left, before Nomanasan island makes visible, the automated captain saying "Currently 78 Degrees In Nomanisan. Perfect weather for flying." Bob smiles as the jet soars over the island, circling the volcano in the center. The voice then says "please fasten your seatbelt. We're beginning our descent"
Bob indeed fastens his seatbelt as the jet then soared pasts the island, before making a beeline toward it. It then dives into the sea, and soars under the landmass. It goes through a cave tunnel, before it enters a helicopter pad style landing area. The jet then releases it's landing gear as the water around them is drained out from the landing area. A tube like hallway stretches to the left side of the jet. Bob unbuckles his seat belt as the door opens, revealing a sphere like transportation vehicle, and inside was Mirage, who says "hello Mr. Incredible" Bob smiles as he gets out of his seat, and sits across from her.
Mirage says "nice suit" in an impressed tone, and Bob replies "thanks. Nice to be back, Mirage" the door closes as the vehicles goes through the tunnel, and travels down a monorail style track. It continues it's path before heading toward a massive waterfall. The water is then split down the middle, as the water pours down the middle, to reveal a spiraling trackway, which the vehicle Bob and Mirage were in passes. It enters the center tube like elevator, which a pair of grappling machines picks up, and raises it up through it
Some time later, the two enter an elevator, which they now leave. Bob looks in front of him, and is surprised at the fancy style waiting room with a balcony overlooking the island. Mirage then replies "You'll be briefed on your assignment in the conference room at two. D Wing, room A-113." Bob replies "2:00. Got it" Mirage replies "see you there" before the elevator closes. Bob puts his suitcase on a bed, and takes a pear out of a fruit bowl on the dresser next to it. He takes a chomp out of it, before heading up to the balcony, leaning against the rails. Bob had to admit, it was good to be back
Back in the Parr's house. Helen picks up the phone, and presses the number to call Edna. after a second or two, she hears a voice answer "hello?" Helen then replies "hello. I'd like to speak to Edna Mode please" she hears the voice replies "this is Edna Mode" "E? This is Helen" Helen replies, before Edna replies "Helen who?" "Helen Parr? You know" Helen replies, before sighing, and continuing "Elastigirl?" "DARLIIIIIING!!!" Edna shouts, starling Helen who tosses the phone in the air of startlement. She tries to grab it, before she falls on her back, and grabs the phone. As it went, Edna continued "It's been such a long time after all these years! So long!" Helen replies "yes! Yes it has been a while. Listen E. Bob went out on an assignment, and he said that you made him a new supersuit?" Edna replies, the room she was in having an aquarium with orange fish swimming adobe a log, resembling a fireplace
"Yes, yes, yes. Marvelous, isn't it? Much better than those horrible pajamas he used to wear." from her end, Helen replies "actually, i didn't see it yet" "oh! How impolite of me" Edna realizes "I just get so caught up as it has been years since I worked on such genius before. I even made matching suits for the rest of you" Helen is surprised by that, and then shakes her head saying "oh. Well that's really nice. And Bob also said you made Moxxie and Millie their own suits too?" Edna smiles "yes! Of course! Your new neighbors! I would love to show them all off to you! Come by in one hour, make sure to bring the imps with you. I insist. Their jaws will drop in adoration to see what I made for them! Goodbye! See you then, darling!" with that, she hangs up. Helen then sighs, realizing Edna was having one of her moments. She thinks about it, before sighing. It would be nice to see Edna in person again. Plus it would be nice to introduce her to Moxxie and Millie. So she gets up, and heads up to Moxxie and Millie's door, knocking on it, with Millie answering "hey girl. What's up?" Helen smiles "hey Millie. Listen, there's someone i'd like you and Moxxie to meet"

and here it is. chapter 10. as you can see, i changed up Helen's part of the story. this was to keep in continuity with the previous chapter, with Helen being curious about Edna's involvement when Bob says she made him a new suit. and yeah, i included Edna's mentioning making Moxxie and Millie's suits, and insisting Helen brings them along. we all know how Edna is
